Udaka Michishige’s third introductory Noh Hands-on Workshop in Tokyo will be on July 13 again at the Geinokadensha in Nishi-Shinjuku. This time, the program runs all day, beginning at 10:30 am with an hour break for lunch, and continuing until 5:00 pm. For those with no Noh experience or looking for a new perspective on the art form, the day will include lectures and student participation, including warm-up stretches, meditation, chant, and dance.

The series of Noh seminars is open to anyone interested in experiencing Noh first-hand and is intended as a guide to Noh appreciation. (An attendance fee of ¥10,000/students ¥3,500 will be collected on the day of the seminar.) Please indicate when you apply if you require English translation. On April 19, 2008 in Tokyo, Udaka Michishige successfully completed the first event in a series of Noh Theater Hands-on Seminars. 15 participants experienced Noh up close for the first time. The event included meditation, breathing exercises, stretching, and Noh chant, concluding with an introduction to Noh masks, including the rare opportunity of trying on the masks.

The second seminar will be held on May 17 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. This seminar will be held at the Geinokadensha, an elementary school renovated as a performing arts school in Nishi-Shinjuku.

The series of Noh seminars is open to anyone interested in experiencing Noh first-hand and is intended as a guide to Noh appreciation.
